You can easily create contacts by using just a first name and last name in a contact form. However, as you get more familiarized with DonorDock and how you prefer to communicate with your donor's, whether through email or letter, you can use the system to personalize and standardize these communications through use of the salutation and addressee fields stored in the system.
The Salutation field is used to greet your donor in a communication and is defaulted to "Dear" when this is enabled in the system.
The Addressee field is how you officially address a donor, which is defaulted to the First and Last name when enabled in the system.
You can update how you prefer to use these fields in the organization settings.
- Click on the Settings Menu grid in the top right hand corner of the screen
- Navigate to Feature Settings
- Update the Salutation and/or Addressee Options Settings how you like.
There are a few different ways in which you can use these settings for both address and salutation that don't impact each other. The scenarios for salutation and address can be used in conjunction with each other
Option 1) You can completely disable the default and customize salutation settings and you will not see the default of "Dear" or any salutation at all.
Option 2) You can disable the default setting and enable the customize salutation setting to input the salutation of your choice (i.e. Hello, Greetings, etc.). If nothing is populated in the customized pre-fix, this will act the same as option 1
Option 3) Enable the default salutation setting and Dear will be set as your salutation
Option 1) You can completely disable the default and customize addressee settings and you will not see the First and Last Name for the Addressee at all
Option 2) You can disable the default setting and enable the customize addressee setting to set the DonorDock address fields of your choice (FirstName & SpouseFirst, FirstName & SpouseFirst Last Name, etc.). If nothing is populated in the customized pre-fix, this will act the same as option 1
Option 3) Enable the default addressee setting and the addressee will be addressed as FirstName LastName
